Dr. Steven J. Svabek
Dr. Steven J. Svabek, possessing almost 30 years of educational and professional
experience in the field of orthopedic surgery, is currently based out of Coral Springs,
Florida. Steven went to the University of Kansas and St. Mary’s University for
his undergraduate education, which he completed in 1986. He then enrolled at the
Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine for medical school, graduating in 1991.
After performing a one year internship at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic
Medicine, Steven studied general surgery and completed his orthopedic residency at
Peninsula Hospital Center. Concluding his formal education was a spine fellowship at the
University of Colorado’s Health Science Center.
Dr. Svabek began his professional career in medicine at St. Luke’s Orthopedic Trauma in
1999. He has since provided his services for several organizations, including a successful
four year stint at the American Health Network, located in Avon, Indiana. Having
gathered a great deal of experience, Steven decided to open his own private practice in
2007. His current employer is the Florida Orthopedic and Spine Center. There he focuses
on complex spine pathologies and correction via surgical procedures.
Steven has contributed to the medical community in more ways than one. He has
published innovative research papers on a variety of topics related to orthopedics. He
also had the distinguished honor of pioneering and being named Director of the Spine
Surgical Center at Johnson Memorial Hospital. Finally, he was an Associate Professor at
the University of Colorado, where he taught orthopedic surgery. A consummate and well
rounded professional, Dr. Steven Svabek aims to continue his ground-breaking work in
the field for years to come.
